Crown of Thorns in the Sand

About the image

Me and my friend was driving back to the gate after walking through the dead trees and stopped at the picnic site where we relaxed in the shade from the scorching heat. I saw this lonely Gemsbok standing there and thought that it was an amazing opportunity to get a nice photograph. The image was taken close to the ground to make the Gemsbok appear bigger. I spent a lot of time just to get the right image and then it flickered its tail. This image is special to me because it is facing the camera and there is almost nothing in the background.

About the photographer

I started photography through my high school's photographic society/club, where we took photographs of various scenes and activities, which ignited a passion for photography in me. I like to photograph wildlife, landscapes and sport events. My love for wildlife has always been with me since I was a child. Photography is an amazing opportunity to capture the beauty of our Earth and the wildlife. It allows me to preserve special moments and share the beauty of nature with others.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S QUOTE

It is a blessing experiencing nature and all its beauty.

CONSERVATION MESSAGE

There are many animal and plant species in the world and climate change is a big threat to our species. If each one of us do something small each day to help reduce our Earth getting warmer, it will make a huge difference.
