Golden Hour
About the image
I bumped into this snake while going to take shower at a campsite. It was inside of a drainage pipe outside of the bathroom and I just noticed it's head poking out as I walked towards it. This was a very special moment for me, as it is a species that I had been desperately wanting to see and photograph for many years, but never quite got the chance. I got it out from inside the drainage pipe and took it to an area away from the campsite so it wouldn't come into contact with any of the other guests. While releasing it, I snapped some shots. It was such a special moment because the snake was so cooperative the entire time, and the natural light as the sun was setting created such a beautiful vibe for the images. I love looking back on this image and remembering this moment.

About the photographer
I have no real explanation for my love of wildlife. I was just born with a passion for snakes, which extended to wildlife as a whole at a young age. I caught my first wild snake when I was 5 years old, and I have spent the rest of my life gaining more experience with them. Snakes are my preferred photography subject. I love capturing their peacefulness and their beauty, which is often unappreciated or completely overlooked by the general public due to fear and misunderstanding.
PHOTOGRAPHER'S QUOTE
Home is where people are scarce and wildlife aplenty.
CONSERVATION MESSAGE
Through education and understanding, we should all strive to appreciate and protect snakes as much as we can. Being such important animals for the environment, they are sadly far too often victim to harsh treatment at the hands of humans, who are simply letting fear and misunderstanding cloud their judgement of a situation.
