Clay Face
About the image
Two days into our trip to Addo Elephant Park, and not a single elephant sighting. The irony was starting to feel personal. Finally, after what felt like forever, we spotted this guy in the distance. He was marching our way with a mission, face covered in mud and ears covered in red clay. I won't lie, I was intimidated by how effortlessly he closed the distance between us. I tentatively held my breath as he suddenly slowed down, then fired away at the shutter. When I got a shot I was satisfied with, he calmly turned away and continued on in another direction, like he knew his striking pose did the trick.

About the photographer
I began to photograph wildlife when I was 16 after my parents bought me a camera for my birthday, since that day I was hooked, walking around the garden photographing whatever I could. It was through this that I learnt I really love to photograph wildlife, when I’m out shooting I feel most accomplished if I capture the feeling of being at a sighting, and being able to relive those emotions and memories through an image is super important to me, if others can also feel those emotions when looking at my images then, that’s even better. I’ll continue photography for as long as I’m able to, and I hope others can find value in my work like I do.
