The Wandering Warrior
About the image
It was a cloudy and rainy evening when I noticed this lone elephant heading towards the forest after a long day spent feasting at the marsh. Waiting for him to cross the road, I quickly switched over to my wide angle lens as he got closer. With my camera lowered out of the window, he towered above the car with the forest and some threatening rainclouds in the distance, creating this dramatic scene.

About the photographer
The first time I pressed the shutter button of my Nikon was in 2017. I was 11 years old at the time and instantly fell in love with my camera. When COVID sent us all into lockdown, I saw this as an opportunity to learn more about photography and spent more and more of my free time out in the Kenyan bush photographing and learning about our natural world. What started as a pass time hobby has now taken me to places I never would've imagined myself and allowed me to capture and share with the world the moments out in nature that I cherish the most, and the urgency with which we need to act to protect and conserve the little that we have left of these wild places.
PHOTOGRAPHER'S QUOTE
For there to be positive change, there must always be awareness first.
CONSERVATION MESSAGE
I firmly believe that without information and awareness, we cannot create change and make an impact. I hope that in whatever small way we can, we tell the world our stories about the natural world, and what we must do so that future generations can enjoy nature and wildlife the way we do now.
